Jay-Z Reportedly Picks Himself to Headline the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Who better to headline the Super Bowl halftime show than the guy in charge of putting it together? Jay-Z is reportedly set to take center stage at the 2027 Super Bowl in Los Angeles!

According to a music industry insider who spoke with Deadline, the rap superstar will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, has been responsible for organizing the halftime show since 2019.

The NFL has not officially confirmed the news, but if the report is accurate, Jay-Z could be gearing up for one of the biggest performances of his career — on a stage he has helped shape for years.

A Big Year for Jay-Z

The reported halftime gig comes during a major celebration of Jay-Z’s career. The rapper is marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of his classic album The Blueprint with his Jay-Z 30 Tour.

He’s also the subject of an eight-part docuseries, Jay-Z in 8, featuring conversations with legendary music producer Rick Rubin.

Jay-Z is already scheduled to perform two shows at SoFi Stadium this week, making the Inglewood venue a fitting place for a potential Super Bowl announcement.

Who Could Join Jay-Z on Stage?

If Jay-Z headlines the halftime show, the big question is which superstar friends might join him.

Beyoncé seems like an obvious possibility. She has already made a surprise appearance during the New York leg of her husband’s tour. Other potential guests include Nas and Pharrell Williams, who have also been part of the tour’s New York performances.

Fans could even see a reunion of sorts. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean joined Jay-Z during the London leg of the tour, raising the possibility of a Fugees-inspired moment.

And don't forget The Roots. Jay-Z recently reunited with the legendary hip-hop band to headline Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic, marking their first get-together in more than a decade.

With that many possibilities, the guest list could be just as exciting as the headliner.

Jay-Z Has Some Big Halftime Shows to Follow

The reported announcement comes with some serious expectations. Bad Bunny headlined the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, featuring appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, along with celebrity cameos. The performance drew an estimated 128.8 million viewers.

That was just shy of Kendrick Lamar’s record-setting 133 million viewers in 2025.

Lamar also performed the last time the Super Bowl was held in Los Angeles, headlining the 2022 halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige.

Now, Jay-Z could get his own moment in the spotlight at SoFi Stadium.

The bottom line: Jay-Z reportedly picking himself for the biggest halftime stage in music is a pretty fitting move for someone whose company helps run the show. Now we just need the NFL to make it official — and find out who’s joining him!
