A 29-year old Chinese man named Liu is walking 1,000 miles to prove his love for his girlfriend Ling and convince her to say yes to his marriage proposal. Why? Here's a little hint for those of you not up on your late 80’s music knowledge (for shame, readers).Yep, Liu is walking 500 miles then walking 500 more just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at Ling's door. Da da da, da da da da. Apparently Ling joked that she would only marry Liu if he followed The Proclaimers' example and and hoofed it to prove he's serious about her.

"The distance from here to her hometown in the Guangdong province, in southeastern China, is 1,600 kilometers which is exactly 1,000 miles," he was quoted as saying. "When I get there I hope she is waiting for me and I will ask her again and I hope she says yes."

All together now: awwww!

Ling told reporters, "He's such a fruitcake. I would have married him anyway and was only joking when I said he had to walk a 1,000 miles."
