A mysterious figure caught on a Compton doorbell camera has sparked a wave of online theories — and even talk of aliens.

The eerie footage, recorded shortly after 1 a.m. on July 5, shows an unidentifiable shape moving past the front of a home. What makes it more unsettling? The figure appears to go unnoticed by the property’s motion-sensor cameras.

Jessica Ortiz, the homeowner who shared the footage with the YouTube channel The Hidden Underbelly 2.0, says she first noticed the movement when reviewing her security system.

“I asked my son to look at the video,” Ortiz said in the interview. “I brought him the phone and said, ‘Hey, double-check this for me. What am I seeing?’ He watched it three times and said, ‘Mom, it’s an alien. Call the cops.’”

Despite the scare, Ortiz never made that call. “It was scary,” she admitted. “But at that moment, I was like, ‘What do I even say? We’ll sound crazy calling the police to report an alien in the backyard.’”

Since the video was posted, internet sleuths have offered up all kinds of theories. Some believe the figure could simply be a person carrying plastic bags. Others think it might be a small child. And of course, some are convinced it’s something out of this world.

The truth behind the shadowy figure remains a mystery — but for now, the video continues to fuel speculation and debate across social media. Alien or not, it’s one creepy clip.
